We met our first "crazies"

Guys, things are getting a little freaky out here on the road.

Lots of rumors, mixed messages on the news... it's all a little overwhelming, don't you think?

We met our first crazy last Thursday in Arkansas. He came booming into our campground loop Cousin Eddie style at 11pm. He went to the other side of our area and picked a fight with someone over a campsite they were set up in. Apparently, he thought he belonged in that spot.

Then he came booming by us looking for a different spot. Mike, the gentleman that he is, told him the spot next to us was available so Crazy spent the next 40 minutes backing his jalopy (which was towing a trailer by the way, long enough to carry his extended cab pickup) into said spot next to us. On his other side was a family trying to sleep in a tent.

Wife: "You need to keep your voice down”

Crazy: "I know the rules and I’m not breaking any of them. Please just go inside. You’re of no use out here”

Wife: "ok…" turns around and starts going inside

Crazy: "Would you please go get me (you pick the item) please darling?"

Wife: "ok..." brings it back to him

Crazy: "NO! Not that! What am i going to do with THAT!? You’re of no use out here, go inside! ”

This goes on and on. Anyway, he joined us 2 hours later (from his side of the camper, 8 feet away from us) and he played guitar and sang for us. But man, he was wacked! He said his son works for Homeland Security, and he shouldn’t be telling us, but his son says we need to pack for 30 days and bug out. Bug out for 30 days, maybe forever. Omagosh….

We avoided him the next day by going kayaking and going to bed early, and we left the following morning.

Watch out guys, homeland security is telling you to BUG-OUT!

Crazy 2 is currently parked across from us. Pulled in this afternoon. Loud… so loud. He came over and talked to Mike while I was working on a paper for school. Wanted to shake hands, Mike says no, Crazy hey offended. 🤷‍♀️ Spouted all kinds of Trumper babble and left when Mike wouldn’t agree with him. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍

Last night, Mike was cooking Bratwurst on the grill and Crazy gets on the phone. He’s got his chair set up facing ours, and he’s looking right at us while talking on the phone…

Crazy: "Bill (? I don’t remember who he’s talking to) – How are ya?"

Pause while Bill talks…

Crazy: "Well, I think it’s just a power struggle and there isn’t no virus at all. This is all an election ploy. Nobody’s dying. No one needs to be quarantined. This is all crap from the democrats!"

…. I had to remove myself from the area…. I couldn’t listen to this anymore…. I needed to unplug somehow….

In other news:

Callie is checking in frequently with her online friends spread across the globe: one in Italy, one in Madrid; one hunkered down in an apartment in mid-town NYC. We keep checking in with her to make sure she’s feeling ok about this. So far, so good.

Callie also had her first lesson in the long process of making Avgolemono (Greek Soup). In case you’re wondering, the process actually requires a lot of room and when the 2 extra meals that generated from that experience are gone, there will be no more Greek soup in the Colonel. Waaayyyyyy too tight and too much work in here.

Mike has been working hard keeping The Colonel sparkly and clean while us gals do our schoolwork each morning. He’s gotten some compliments on The Colonel, which certainly helps keep him motivated.

He made us all dinner last night then shared some treats with the pups…

And just to show you the kind of community we are in right now, check out these billboards we saw on the way in…

That’s all for now. We’re sheltered in place for the time being. We are scheduled to move over the weekend, but not far, and we’ll keep staying safe. The Texans are a friendly, kind group of humans. Not a bad place to be hunkered down. I did like those Arkansans though. So polite and simple. Seems like a good way to live. They all seemed satisfied with their stations in life and were happy and relaxed….

Oh well… Good morning, stay tuned, and for crying out loud – facetime your mother!

Take care. There are crazies all over now. I think they may be more dangerous than the virus at times.
