Real talk

If everyone remembers the interview style videos of me I wasn't so sure we would make it this far without some serious issues. Most of those  issues have been fixed. The electrical problems (and new ones), the braking problems, and the attitude problems (just kidding we're all still working on that ;-)  We have new issues that need to be addressed and one issue that can't be fixed unless we replace our truck or get creative. Needless to say we're going to get creative with that one because there is no better option to replace our tow vehicle with and even if there was it would consume too much of our limited time. Preparing a new vehicle for this also takes a lot of time and money both of which are at a premium. I also HATE truck shopping as Val can attest. I flew 2,400 miles and drove back the same to get the one we have now, Slady.  With that said timing is everything. The weather is going to have to be clear and cold when we head over i40 across the continental divide (7200+ ft) for Slady to make it. We've tried to cool her down but she still runs hot! We will shed as much weight from the camper and truck as possible in preparation for that evolution to make it easier on her.  Recent issues involve a tire that's been losing air, a generator that works when it feels like it, air conditioning that only comes on sometimes when you turn the heat on first, a broken gas grill, a tongue jack that's on its last legs, a bad propane tank, and other things I can't remember at the moment. All in the last week. No this is not always fun.  We're in some town in the middle of nowhere that reminds me of the walking dead but with a bunch of busybody zombies. It's interesting. A town that's slowly but surely dying much like many others we've driven through.  While a trip like this is incredible it's also an incredible amount of work. If you can't go more than a month without having a significant disagreement with your loved one at home don't even try. Things are magnified and tested on the road. We're doing just fine but the average stress levels are higher. While much more rewarding it's also a lot more work than living in a sticks and bricks house.  Anyway that's my update. Almost time to get ready to go on the road again. Cheers!

As a preface to this piece, I would like to let you know two things. 1. I wrote this for my Sociology class today. I thought it was okay, and since I haven't had time to keep you all posted on our tra
